In December 2008 the International Development Officer accompanied a University field trip to the Gambia to set up links for Plymouth schools.  These are all in the Bulok area.

 
Since then, the links have flourished with the support of Dawda Faye, International Coordinator for the Catholic Education Secretariat in The Gambia.  He visited Plymouth in November 2009 when a further five school partnerships were formed.

Audience with the Pope!!  

Leah Burch, the Headteacher and 20 children from Holy Cross Primary were invited to meet the Pope during his visit to London in September.  They have a very special link with St. John Vianney Basic School in The Gambia and he wanted to hear more about it so held a video conference link with both schools during the Assembly on 17th September.
