Print Why get involved?

Why should your school get involved with Plymouth International Education?

Here are just some of the benefits to adding an international dimension to your curriculum:

  •  Brings the community into school e.g. by celebrating international days, getting parents to hold
cooking lessons from their native background and organising guest speakers.
  •  Enables the school to implement a modern creative curriculum and raises attainment
  •  Encourages cross-curricular links and broadens the learning experiences of pupils
  •  Increases children's enthusiasm, concentration and motivation
  •  Pupils are given opportunities to interact with native speakers from around the world which
supports the learning of their curriculum in a global context
  •  International activities help to develop tolerance and understanding about other cultures
  •  Pupils are given the opportunity to be taught by teachers from another country via video
     conferencing
  •  Helps children to make connections between information given by visitors and their own lives
     promoting true
    global understanding
  •  Children and staff learn that their choices can haven an impact of others around the world e.g.
     Global Warming
  •  Adds a new dimension to all subject areas e.g. Chinese in Maths
  •  Increases pupils' knowledge of their own country and culture
  •  Emphasises the ethos that we are all global citizens and that we need to work together
  •  Changes pupils' perceptions from what they see in the Media e.g. regarding Africa
  •  Provides the opportunity for staff and pupils to travel abroad and gain firsthand global
     experience

Note: When Ofsted inspectors visit schools, they will look for evidence that the school is promoting community cohesion and encouraging international activity. For more information on this, please download this document
