The British Council is the United Kingdom international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities, building trust and engagement for the UK through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide. As well as education, British Council runs programmes in the arts, science, sport, governance and English language.

What they do
For more than 70 years the British Council has been building strong cultural relations with other countries, exchanging knowledge and ideas and providing educational opportunities. Their programmes reach over 112 million people a year in the UK and in 110 other countries and territories.

Their projects
The British Council delivers hundreds of projects in the areas of education, the arts, science, sport and governance.

Publications and research
The British Council publishes a range of publications in the areas of arts, science, governance and learning.

 

International School Award
The International School Award is an accreditation scheme for curriculum-based international work in schools. The scheme provides recognition for teachers and their schools working to instill a global dimension into the learning experience of all children and young people.

Comenius is part of the European Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP). It provides opportunities for schools and colleges to introduce or strengthen the European dimension in their curriculum.

DFID Global School Partnerships
DFID Global School Partnerships promotes partnerships between schools in the UK and schools in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. The programme provides advice and guidance, professional development opportunities and grants to schools that are using school partnerships as a means for developing a global dimension within their curriculum.
