The British Council funds SWIEN. The aim of the network is to complement in-service training run by individual LAs by organising regional events in order to develop the international dimension. In addition to seminars held in different parts of the region, a one-day regional conference is held each year (usually in June) to bring together teachers to share good practice and promote new initiatives and opportunities.
