History

Most Plymouth schools are linked now with schools in South Africa through AfriTwin. Afri Twin – www.afritwin.net – offers hands on support in Capetown to set up your school’s link. It also holds regular national Conferences to create an opportunity for schools to meet, share and enjoy the mutual learning and experiences with all their UK and South African Schools.

Ridgeway School built their own link with a school in South Africa. Inspired by the recent BBC School Day, South Africa, Claire Davidson's Year 8 class at Ridgeway School held a conference of their own a day later. Claire sought to build further links with Africa following a trip to South Africa with the British Council and Teaching Awards Trust in 2004. Since then links with South African schools have grown to become rich and successful.
